My life, real & unscripted...
I stumbled across some unsettling remarks a few weeks ago while searching for something online. I mean, I know the world is full of people with all kinds of opinions about God. There are unbelievers, doubters, naysayers & even blasphemers, but the comments I came across on another blog, where the majority of those who subscribed/commented were self proclaimed atheists, was just seeping with hatred & contempt for the truth.
Ever since then I've felt as if the Spirit in me is compelling me to offer my testimony as a record of proof that the Bible is the TRUE word of God & that God does in fact exist. I believe that what has happened in my life is the best proof I can offer to those seeking an answer to the question, 'Does God exist/Is the Bible really the Word of God?'. To prove this point I plan to keep a written account of all the ways my life has changed & all the ways in which God has used me for His purposes to impact the lives of others since I came to the truth and turned my life over to Christ.
Until next time...
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
1 Corinthians 13:13 New International Version
Atheists, much like people in general, span a continuum. We can range from apathetic to vitriolic and some are just @55holes. But generally we share the common lack of belief in a god. I am fairly certain we fundamentally disagree with you about what you are calling truth.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to write about your experiences for the world to see, I hope you enjoy expressing yourself. I also hope that you don't expect to sway any atheists with your testimony, as I can't think of any who would rely on your (or anyone else's for that matter) personal experience as proof.
In creating this blog it was never my intention or even my desire to sway any atheists, just to present what has happened to me, as it has happened. The facts of what I have experienced are real, not fiction, and that by definition is truth. You don't have to support my decision to tell my story, but as my sister I'd think you'd at least respect me enough not call or think me a liar just because you don't believe my personal experiences are credible enough to be considered proof.
ReplyDeleteI think you need to re-read what I wrote.
ReplyDeleteI did not call you a liar.
I was also supportive of your choice to start a blog.
I only mentioned swaying atheists because you mentioned them as impetus for you to share.
As far as personal experiences go, human senses are very easily fooled and/or distorted. Personal experience is never good proof. It was not intended to be a personal attack on you.
I read what you wrote a few times actually. It is obvious that you are an intelligent young lady from the vocabulary you use in your reply, so don't insult my intelligence by saying you didn't call me a liar. You said, "I can't think of any, (meaning atheists), who would rely on your (or anyone else's for that matter) personal experience as proof." Right there you called me one in a round-about kind of way. Saying that my own personal experiences are not proof is the same as saying they are false, imagined, make believe, etc. How can you say that when you haven't been present to witness what has been going on in my life? That is the same as calling me a liar & I know you're smart enough to understand how to call someone a liar without using the actual word. I love you Lisa, but what happened to me happened whether you choose to believe it or not. To be honest, I think atheists have to have more faith than those of us who believe in God. I plan to use this forum to write about my life experiences since I accepted Christ and received the gift of God's grace. I would appreciate you refraining from trying to tell me I'm mistaken about the events that have occurred in my life over the past 17-18 months, since you cannot offer proof, only your belief that they didn't happen.
